- Plan ahead. Often when we travel, we are out of the routine and do not eat at regular intervals. Sometimes we can go several hours without eating anything.
Contrary to the popular myth that you should stop eating to “save space” for a big meal, going long strides without eating actually slows down your metabolism and makes your body lazy and tired and clinging to calories. Our bodies live these periods as “mini-starvation” and send our brain into panic mode. To keep your blood sugar stable and to avoid energy drops (which can lead to an excess of sugars or fried foods), aim to eat a little every couple of hours while you are in transit and while you are in around, in the form of foods that are nutritious-dense and rich in lean protein.
